The Girl Who Dreamed Geese by Isaia The Girl Who Dreamed Geese by Isaia
each night the girl would dream of geese, flocking in the sky, ...until one day, the sky in her dreams was empty..so she tried as hard as she could to dream of flying geese once more ...

drawing of an inuit legend based on tales told by Billy Nuuq and compiled by Howard Norman and illustrated by the awesometastic Leo and Diane Dillon.

wauugh the story ends so sad though...

I remember our teacher read this to us in Grade 6. Your drawing is just beautiful, and tells a story on its own.

This is beautiful. I love the position and the colouring. The tattoos on her face are really pretty. You did a lovely job capturing the emotion.

I wish I could read the story... or hear it...

Good job!

Isaia, I don't know if you know about me yet, but I love your art, this is so far my favorite, so I favorited this, but it was so hard too chose, since you are such a good artist! I love this piece of art, as much as I love the eskimo's culture, which is saying a lot-you don't know.

I couldn't help but favoriting this. I love how you drew her dreams in a tribal form, and the gesture you give her is just amazing.

Oh, yay, art from an Inuit legend! It's really nice to see stuff like that on dA, and it's always awesome to see you do original art. (Not that I mind your Avatar fanart, though...)

I like the story about the Raven and his fox bride.

Great picture. The geese look really cool, and the girl looks like she's just sorta drifting away . . .

Excellent job. :)

Wow. I just read that story not that long ago. ('twas sad in the middle...but ended rather happy, I thought.)

Her emotion is perfect, i think, as she tries so hard to dream the geese to her people. Color selection is spot-on. Lovely.

And I love stories like this. I once got to watch a Mingo storyteller, and he was so animated and enthusiastic (*smiles*). I wish more people took the time to tell stories.

Does the legend have anything to do with the geese being the souls of lost children? I read something about that somewhere in an Inuit story and I thought it was really interesting. It may be completely different though. I'll have to check out the story that you read. I love that stuff.

Very nice artwork! It definately portreys the dreamlike quality of the text! so soothing.
