"But Father said he would spend some time with me today..." The young prince mumbled sadly

"Do not worry my nephew" Iroh smiled at the boy "I have a surprise, your father...he was busy, but he still managed to give you a gift for your birthday."

He handed the little boy his gift.

The prince's eyes immediately glowed and sparkled brightly with happiness.

"I knew it! I knew father wouldn't forget!! I'll go fly it right now!" he laughed and ran outside.

But Iroh knew it would be best not to tell Zuko who had REALLY bought the kite...

I love the joy on his face, you really catch that essence of what it's like for a little kid on their birthday.

That's so sad..and heartwarming too (sorry to sound corny -eh heh heh-). This reminds me of the 'Cat's Cradle' song. I like the colors, Little Prince Zuko looks absolutely delighted. You do a great job of portraying emotions.
