I *HEART* Disney's Treasure Planet, and I'm not afraid to admit that.
Sure, the Disney version was more of like a futuristic fantasy-hybrid fun story yayadventuretime-take, rather than a direct adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel.
But I loved it for it surprisingly lovely story with heart and spirit and neat music and buttery smooth animation and and the art and character designs and how they built that world was like...DANG COOLasdfdfdfdf!!!. (It made such great usage of 70/30 style for both characters and props and the whole shebang)
Ron Clements and John Musker deserved more recognition for directing this movie.
Just as I've mentioned before:
IN FACT IT WAS this movie that brought me to deviantart, where I first fangirled over fanart, I lurked around and fangirled over (whose sturdy treasure planet creature and character concepts just rawked) the awesome (whose mastery of funny and art-tastic still has me awed holy yes) and (whom I think his treasure planet fanart is arguably the most creative and filled with such integrity)
(BTW HEY, Ajie-g, "AKEONDO" helped me to remember how cool treasure planet was again! THANKS! )
I think it may have very well been this movie that led me to respect and love and spazz over disney animation/art, its fluidity and grace, and not just over japanese anime.

This was just a fun nostalgic memory fanart for
the characters Captain Amelia and Doctor Doppler and my random take on their four kids. :333 and have made their own versions of these anthrochildrens and their versions years ago. BOTH are both so mind blastingly awesome I was inspired to make my own versions years ago.
But didn't have the balls or the skill to develop and refine my version until now.
(left from right)
-Kit
(who is adventurous, kind of a bully, and tomboy rebel, but determined to make a name for herself and stands up what she believes is right..secretly wishes to impress her mother)
-Emily (somewhat developed awkwardness after her brother outgrew his in later years, but loves to learn many subjects on literature/science/mathematics and everything, to the point that she becomes overabsorbed in it, like her father *COUGH* shewearstheglassestoimpresspeople theirnotperscribed >w>
-Lillian
(shy and sweet, likes to play music, paint, draw and sketching out plans for her brother's flying machine ideas. Has to be the peacekeeper for when her sis, Kit starts hissing and losing her temper XP)
-Daniel
(nearsighted, nerdy and quiet during his younger years, but took it upon himself to hide that as he got older. Enjoys designing model ships and other odd flying machines, secretly builds them in the basement and keeps trying to talk Emily into being the co-pilot (test dummy) for test flights. Thinks Jim Hawkins is AWESOME and kinda idolizes him.)
ah this was fun, reminded me of the old days when I'd scribble these characters in notebooks and get excited over actual pictures of anthropomorphized dogs and cats.
especially when there was a neat balance of human features with animal design.
squeee
and fun practice with colored lineart.
Ok, I'm done for now. *calms down* XD
I don't mind if yalls laugh at my Treasure Planet geekery.
Weren't for that geekery, I probably would be suckier in drawing and wouldn't have gotten into Avatar. !! for serious!
