perhaps, even if there is some growing confusion inside of him regarding the motives and ideology of the army, in the end he still has loyalty to his nation, and that he cannot afford to be complacent towards these waterbending natives.

Great art! You know what's funny? One of the characters in this is named Umi, and if you've seen the Avatar Spirit comic for Avatar Kuruk, his fiance was named Ummi (er... I think it was...)
