We all like to make original characters for Avatar. They make fandoming all the more super awesome.
But I think it is difficult to make original characters that have qualities and background that make others interested in their purpose, life, story, personality and essence. AAnd being able to embody unique-ness that can range from clever design, (execution), can be seemingly simple and sincere, something refreshing and new, or addresses and branches away within the canon without disrespecting it or holding itself above it, it's hard, yo AAAnd/or without necessarily making their main goal!!11one to pair themselves in OMG TWU LOV ... *Isaia is violently pelted with tomatos* [wipes tomato pulp off face] hehe, I tend to be (very) picky about what Original characters I like (I tend to be EVIL!111one and shy away from requests regarding some OC's) but there are actually a lot of OC's that I really enjoy looking at and love, and well, here is a couple of them (among MANY that I like) and that I drew down in my own style, together with some of my own characters. WHOOP WHOOP! Jikan by -I'm usually not partial to like ____benders. And now that I think about it, I'm still sort of apprehensive about the concept of a shadow bender LOL. But ahhh, I couldn't resist Sajira's character design. It's a guilty pleasure to draw him. Also a potentially interesting story. Dr. Hua by Amurderofcrows [link] I really enjoyed reading her AU fanfiction, "Ship of Fools" especially with this greatly developed character who brought such a gruff, jaded, yet still oddly caring piece of dynamic to the canon characters' relationships , an old physician who aids Zuko on his ship, as well as Sokka, Katara and Aang. Ren by Such a simple yet great design, with balance and unity. A request that I happily took, made by a fellow artist that I rspect and admire. Her character could fit rather well in the Avatarverse, not to mention has cool fire-twirling skillz, (which by the way, is a REAL artform Toji and Rei by me characters of mine, a young waterbender and firebender who lived 600-700 years before Aang, kids who befriend each other during a conflict between their two nations, whose story I'm working on: [link] (Avatar itself (c) to Nick, OC's are drawn by me belong ot me, but top three are not mine and belong to their respective owners) I may later draw teh earthkingdom and airnomad characters later |
